Grooming your Doodle
Most Goldendoodles are hypoallergenic and non-shedding because they contain a significant amount of Poodle genetics. The drawback of having a nonshedding dog is you need to groom your doodle’s hair consistently — this includes brushing your Goldendoodle down to the skin level! Goldendoodle grooming is relatively easy if you do it on a consistent basis and your dog gets used to the haircutters, scissors, and nail grinders.
You can combine home grooming with trips to a professional groomer every 5-6 weeks. Regular grooming is key!
Line Brushing
Line brushing is a relatively simple method of grooming that leaves a dog’s coat looking healthy and free of debris, knots and mats. Get your young puppy used to having all areas of his body handled, brushed and combed - including tail, legs and feet. There are lots of videos on YouTube about doodle grooming and ‘line brushing’ which will give you an idea of how to groom your doodle.
Puppies go through a coat change between approximately 8-12 months where their adult coat starts to come through. During this period, coats should be groomed more regularly - ideally combed through daily
